My First Virtual Assistant Blog Post

This is a space where I’ll share insights on how to get organized and promote your business or passion project. I’ll also write about how hiring a VA can help liberate your business and help you find ways to move forward with less administrative burdens weighing you down.

How I Became a Small Business Virtual Assistant

I’m not exaggerating: Being a Virtual Assistant has changed my life. When I was pregnant with my fourth child, I started looking into ways I could work from home, be my own boss and still be engaged with people. Launching this business has made me feel empowered and free, and I want to share that feeling with my clients. I’m also in this because I love to help people. I always have. As a mom of four and as an older sister to three brothers, it’s a gut reaction for me to just jump in if I see someone struggling. I count other people’s successes as part of my own.

Challenges of Entrepreneurship

So you’re running the business or project that you love, but it seems like there’s never enough time to look at the big picture, right? There’s an endless list of little things that eat up your day: tasks like posting about your business on social media, responding to emails, answering phones, scheduling clients and processing invoices. There is a *very* fine line between being busy and being productive, and I want to help you make the switch. It’s a cliché, I know, but I want you to work smarter, not harder. Let’s take some tasks off your plate so you have time to accomplish your goals!

A Day in the Life

I like to wake up really early in the morning, hours before anyone else in my family. It’s quiet, and with a hot cup of coffee in hand, and my color-coded schedule open in front of me, I can focus on empowering my clients. This work is about creativity and adaptability, and I have already acquired so many new skills. Whether I’m mastering a new payroll software, making a new email template or creating personalized graphics for social media, I’m constantly learning.

It’s also about building relationships. It should feel personal, and it’s based on trust. I want my clients to feel cared for. I want to know when your birthday is, and I want to know whether you like milk chocolate or dark. Almost all of my current clients have come to me through referrals, and I can’t even explain how gratifying it is to know that someone I respect has recommended me to someone they respect.

What's Next

Surprisingly, I kinda like this blog thing! I know this is the first one, but I have quite a few hot topics on the horizon. Creative PlanHer is turning two this year and we plan to foster new relationships while continuing to nurture the ones we have. There were tons of lessons learned in 2020, which shed light on the opportunity to provide higher quality services moving forward.

I certainly do not want to inundate you with content, but I do want to be valuable and plan on sharing a couple blogs a month. Some will be written by me and some will be written by other business owners I consider to be experts in their industry.

My commitment to you is to provide value in exchange for your time and engagement. If there is topic of interest, please do not hesitate to reach out! Thank you for stopping by. Hope you come back in 2 weeks...
