The Journey

A Career in Healthcare

Followed by the "Ultimate Pivot"

In 2004 I started my career in healthcare working as a medical assistant. This was just a stepping stone until I earned my nursing degree (or so I thought). Little did I know my passion for an administrative role would cause the ultimate pivot. So it began! From executive assistant, to project coordinator to training and education manager my love for supporting the "big picture" continued to shine. I quickly realized you do not have to be the boss to impact the bottom line.

I returned to CU Medicine where I thought I belonged. The role was perfect, my manager was awesome and there were always new opportunities. And then SURPRISE! Baby #4 was on the way... What the heck was I going to do?! I knew I was not cut out to be a stay at home mom, but I also knew I wanted something different this time around. I wanted to enjoy more baby moments vs hearing about them from the daycare provider. So I did it! Jumped in feet first to what was going to give me the best of both worlds. Creative PlanHer was founded in February 2019. A service based business that would generate revenue AND allow me to be a full time mommy.

Holy crap! Running a business is SOOOO much more than just the "idea." As a solopreneur the demands of being the bookkeeper, social media manager, administrative assistant, calendar coordinator and human resources department can lead to burnout quickly! I have not completely mastered how to do all the things with ease for myself, but I have mastered how I support other small business owners. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities to ease the pressure entrepreneurs encounter by taking some of the necessary evils off their to-do lists.
